FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Northern Colorado track and field teams wrapped up a shortened meet at the Fum McGraw Power Meet host by Colorado State on Sunday.
UNC's performances were highlighted by Wendira Moss winning the 200-meter and taking third in the 100m. On the men's side Colton Magnusson set a new PR in the 800m with a time of 1:55.22.
Shantell Hafner and Samantha Rogers both podiumed for the women. Hafner took third in the 800m with a time of 2:19.52, while Rogers took third in the javelin with a throw of 39.65m.
Raphael Egbuchilem, Anders Buettenback, and Zach Wells podiumed on the men's side. Egbuchilem continued to excel in the sprints, taking second in the 100m with a time of 10.46. Buettenback took second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.42m. Wells finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:53.99.
In relays, the men's 4x100 team took second place with a time of 41.19. The women's 4x100 team also claimed a second-place finish with a time of 47.51. The women's 4x400 team ran unopposed and finished in 4:21.45.
"The Bears had a fun day at a Sunday meet today at CSU," assistant coach Stormie Sickler said. Making the best of the weekend weather and going over to CSU we had quite the number of incredible performances. Wendira Moss won the women's 200m to just barely miss her PR, but claiming the victory was tremendous! The women's 4x100m relay team had an exceptional performance for the first time opening it up, the ladies were able to get the baton around smoothly, and it was their first time competing in it this year. We are hopeful they can shave a solid second off as we continue to perfect the handoffs. Julienne Strydom also had a solid day in the jumps portion of the meet finishing second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump, we are really proud of the progress she continues to make this year!
"A number of great marks on the men's side, noted by Colton Magnuson shaving 2 seconds off his PR in the 800m to run 1:54 converted with the help of teammate Jesse Hayward. We are extremely proud of a team that can work together to help each other reach their goals, they were both given a mission and nailed it to help Colton have a big breakthrough in his event!
The men's 4x100 team looked incredible, especially noting this was their first time running together as a squad as well."
"We are very proud of how everyone competed today, the weather was perfect, the competition was strong, and the Bears showed up with class."
"We have all the pieces falling into place now as the season closes out and we get close and closer to heading into the Big Sky Championships! We are very excited for what's in store over the next three weeks for this bear family!"
