Opening Tip
• Coming off the heels of a major win over Weber State, the Northern Colorado men's basketball team is set to host Portland State on Thursday night. Tip-off against the Vikings is set for 6 p.m.
vs Portland State
• The Bears are 14-19 in their Division I history against Portland State. UNC has won the previous two meetings, including the 69-67 victory in Portland on Jan. 14, as the Bears earned their first Big Sky of the season.
• In that Jan. 14 meeting, Dalton Knecht scored 31 points for the Bears, one point shy of his career best. Knecht also had a career high six three-pointers made. Daylen Kountz scored 10 points in the second half, for a game total of 13. Matt Johnson II had a strong first half, scoring nine points off of three three-pointers.
Last Time Out
• UNC put up 34 points on Weber State this past Monday night in a nationally-televised game. Riley Abercrombie hit seven straight threes, and ended the night shooting 7-for-8 with 21 point. Daylen Kountz and Dalton Knecht scored 16 points apiece. The Bears 42 rebounds is one shy of the team's season high. The 88 points scored ties a season high for the Bears, matching their effort against at CSU on Dec. 3. UNC shot a season-high 60% from the field, including 66.67% in the second half.
Leading the Pack
• Senior guard Dalton Knecht has posted 13 games this season in which he has led the Bears in scoring.
• Through 23 games this season Knecht leads the Big Sky for scoring, averaging 19.9 points per game, which also ranks 24th in the nation. Knecht is second in the Big Sky for three-point percentage (40.5%).
Freshmen Bests
• Freshman Brock Wisne had a career-best night at Sacramento State (Jan. 12) putting up 12 points, shotting 5-for-11, including hitting one three pointer.
• Fellow freshman Langston Reynolds set career-highs in points (12), minutes played (17), field goals made (5), three-pointers made (2), and steals (1) in the loss to Montana State on Jan. 5.
