GREELEY, Colo. -- Craiesha Johnson headlined the UNC track and field teams' efforts at the Invitational at the Peak on Friday, winning the 200-meter and taking third in the 60m. A total of four UNC athletes claimed podium finishes at the meet hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs.
Ruby Ann Gregory took second place in the 200m, just half a second behind Johnson. Julia Brown came in second in the 800m with a time of 2:30.59, while Delaney Kemp finished behind her for third in the 800m with a time of 2:33.98.
On the men's side, Andrew Moyer ran uncontested in the 800m, finishing with a time of 2:11.04. Jaylen Lee narrowly missed out on a podium in the long jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 6.72m. Edgar Garcia took fifth in both of his events, the 60m and 200m.
"I am very pleased with our Bears efforts and performances today," assistant coach Stormie Sickler said. "We had some notable performances such as Craiesha Johnson in the 60m and 200m dash where she matched her personal best in one and was just shy in another. Jaylen Lee put together a great mark today in the long jump to lengthen is personal best to 6.72m, and Edgar Garcia improved his 60m and 200m dash times as well. It was fun to get out and compete well among our Front Range competitors! Overall, strong performance by numerous athletes as we are only a few weeks away from peak season at conference!"
