NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Northern Colorado track and field teams' performance at the Music City Challenge was highlighted by a new school record from Regina Mpigachai, a first-place finish from Wendira Moss in the 400m and a second-place finish from Jerome Campbell in the 60m hurdles.
Â
"This weekend was significant for Northern Colorado, we experienced the good, the bad and the ugly of competition," Director of Track and Field Wayne Angel said. "One of our goals as a team is to make progress within our program and in the Big Sky. It is our goal to make Northern Colorado a visible brand in the world of track and field. We competed against some outstanding teams from the SEC, Big Ten, ACC and other respectable conferences. We had a school record in the women's mile by Regina Mpigachai as well as several personal bests by Chloe Rylance in the mile and Craiesha Johnson, Wendira Moss and August Van de Weijer in the 400 meters. Jerome is consistent as ever in the 60-meter hurdles, he defeated all collegiate hurdlers only to be bested by a non-collegian in the finals. Overall, I was pleased with the team's performance. We have two weeks before the Big Sky championships. I am confident that we will be prepared to compete on a very high level at that time".
Mpigachi took sixth in the mile, but shattered her previous mark running a 4:39.95, which now sits as the third fastest mile time in the Big Sky.
Moss' first-place time in the 400m of 55.52 is also good for fourth place in the Big Sky standings.
Campbell's time of 7.71 in the 60m hurdles was one one-thousandth shy of his best mark.
