Simental Tops 1000 Career Points vs. Idaho

GREELEY, Colo. – Hannah Simental scored a team-high 18 points and reached 1000 career points in a close 73-70 setback versus Idaho Thursday afternoon in Big Sky Conference play.
Simental's free-throw at 6:56 in the fourth quarter put the Pueblo, Colorado native in rare company. She is the 22nd Bear to reach 1000 career points and the 11th in UNC's NCAA Division I era.
"Hannah is deserving to reach 1000 career points and it's a testament to the hard work she puts in on a daily basis," said UNC head women's basketball coach Kristen Mattio. "She's first in the gym in the morning, and last one to leave and is a great teammate."
Delaynie Byrne scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Averee Kleinhans added 16 points and finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.

The Bears return to the hardwood Saturday and host Eastern Washington for the final home game of the 2022-23 season.
