Thomas Garners Third BSC POTW Award

GREELEY, Colo. – Saint Thomas collected his third Big Sky Conference Player of the Week accolade through the first seven weeks of the 2023 campaign, league officials announced Saturday.
"I am extremely proud of Saint on being named player of the week for the third time already this season," head coach Steve Smiley said. "To get the award once in a season is really difficult in a league with so many great players and teams, so for Saint to win it again and having three on the season before league play begins speaks for itself."
The Omaha, Neb., native tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in the Bears 83-79 victory at Air Force Thursday.
He netted his sixth double-double and fourth 20-point performance of the season. Thomas shot 76.9% (10-13) from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range.
"Saint is a true competitor and an absolute winner," Smiley said. "I personally cannot wait to see what he does in league play."
UNC returns to action Saturday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m., when the Bears host Northern Arizona at Bank of Colorado Arena in the Big Sky Conference opener for both sides. Tickets for the contest are available at uncbears.com/tickets or The Bank of Colorado Ticket Office one hour before tip-off.
