Bears capture multiple podiums at KU

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Northern Colorado track and field teams claimed nine podiums and five wins at the Jayhawk Invitational on Friday.
Jerome Campbell continued his dominance in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing first with a time of 7.70, matching his best mark that he set the week prior in Idaho.
On the women's side, Regina Mpigachai also continued her dominance in the mile, taking another first-place finish with a time of 4:51.88.
Wendira Moss finished the 400m in 57.23 for the Bears' third win of the day. On the men's side August Van de Weijer took second in the 400m with a time of 49.40, finishing second by less than three one-hundredths of a second.
UNC won both the men's and women's distance medley relays, as the men's squad of Jesse Hayward, Edgar Garcia, Colton Magnuson and Zach Wells finished in 10:22.06, while the women's team of Mpigachai, Ruby Ann Gregory, Shantell Hafner and Chloe Rylance finished in 12:12.57.
In addition to the first-place finishes and podiums, UNC also had some impressive personal-records in the meet.
Chloe Rylance ran a 4:59.35 in the mile (4:56.42 converted) for a fifth-place finish and personal best. Her time also ranks sixth fastest in the Big Sky.
Edgar Garcia set new PRs in the 400m with a time of 50.97 (50.17 converted) and the 60m with a time of 7.18.
Shantell Hafner and Julia brown also had personal bests in the 800m, as Hafner took third in the event with a time of 2:20.74 (2:19.14 converted) and Brown finished right behind her in fourth with a time of 2:21.51 (2:19.90 converted).
Jameson Rembert set a new PR in the shot put with a mark of 11.63m.
ACCORDING TO COACH ANGEL
"In this type of meet, the critical thing we check for as coaches is the focus and competitiveness of our athletes. I thought that we did a good job of staying competitive, from top to bottom. We have trained very hard the past three weeks and that has impacted our performance to an extent on the times, heights and distances of our athletes."
"Nevertheless, we still managed another great meet. We had five wins and numerous personal bests. We rose above all expectations today. It's very hard to compete at such a high level every week, but these Bears have a lot of resolve, and I am very proud of them."
