MOSCOW, Id. -- Northern Colorado shot 10-for-12 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and the Bears earned a hard-fought 63-58 win over Idaho Saturday evening in Big Sky play.
The Bears used a balanced offensive effort with four student-athletes scoring in double figures.
Arvada native Delaynie Byrne dropped a team-high 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. Lauren Andrews came off the bench and scored a career-high 14 points and recorded three steals.
Hannah Simental, a 94 percent free-throw shooter on the season, scored 10 points and finished 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. Averee Kleinhans' free throws with 17 seconds remaining provided the Bears a lead it would not surrender.
KEY STATS
"Really proud of how we battled to come through with this win. We hit the free-throws down the stretch and when it mattered the most. We now start a key three-game homestand and we are prepared to defend out home court in front of our fans."
