Jucmane makes rapid climb on second day of Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo.—Moving into the top 20 on the individual leaderboard, Marija Jucmane carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday to lead Northern Colorado in the second round of action at the Golf Week Red Sky Classic on Tuesday.
Jucmane (74-72—146) posted her best stretch of play on the back 9 with a trio of birdies over the final seven holes. The round helped the graduate competitor soar 29 places to 16th on the individual list.
Amy Chitkoksoong (73-76—149), UNC's leader through the first 18 holes, returned with a 4-over 76 during her second tour of the 6,367-yard course to share the 37th position.
As a team, the Bears (306-312—618) moved one stroke closer to Big Sky rival Idaho and will enter the third and final day in 18th place
Firing a tournament-best 279, No. 25-ranked Pepperdine (564) extended its lead to 11 strokes over Colorado (575). Kennesaw State and Fresno State will enter the final round of competition tied for third place with 5-over 581s.
Only three of the 20 teams competing improved from their opening round scores on Monday.
The Pepperdine duo of Lauren Gomez and Lion Higo lead the field with Gomez recording a 6-under 138 to edge Higo (72-67—139) by a single stroke.
