FARMINGTON, Utah--Northern Colorado graduate student Elijah Dotson has earned Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week Honors due to his pivotal role in the Bears' first homecoming victory since 2016, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Â
Dotson was instrumental in helping UNC secure a 35-14 win over Idaho State on Saturday and proved to be a difference maker in the game with a pair of late touchdowns.
Â
His first score of the game came on a two-yard rush to start the fourth quarter which put the Bears up 21-14. Just four minutes later, the Sacramento, California native put the game away for UNC by scoring on an 82-yard punt return.
Dotson's return was the first taken for a score since Ellis Onic II accomplished the feat in 2015 while his 82-yard distance was one yard shy of the program's all-time NCAA DI record.
Â
Rushing for 102 yards on 24 carries, Dotson also became the first UNC running back to eclipse the century mark since Milo Hall in 2019. Overall, Dotson concluded the game with 208 all-purpose yards.
