UNC will have three triple jumpers and one sprinter compete at the NCAA West Regionals
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Track and Field will send four athletes to compete at the NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas May 25-28. They are Qwazon Al-Khaliq, Welre Olivier, Tyler Thimsen and Jerome Campbell.
Al-Khaliq, Olivier and Thimsen will all compete in the triple jump, while Campbell will represent the Blue & Gold in the 110 hurdles.
The 2022 Big Sky indoor triple jump champion in Al-Khaliq is making his second regional appearance and first as a Bear having qualified for the East Regionals while at Kennesaw State. The program's record holder for both indoor and outdoor triple jump goes in with the fifth-best mark of the year in the West at 16.30m. That leap came at the Air Force Twilight Open.
Olivier is also making his second appearance at the regionals after qualifying last season as a freshman. The sophomore won his second straight Big Sky outdoor championship just last week with his best mark of the season at 15.92m.
There will be a third Bear competing in the triple jump in Tyler Thimsen. The graduate student makes his second regional appearance with a season-best mark of 15.41 at last week's Big Sky Championship.
Freshman Jerome Campbell makes his NCAA Regionals debut after qualifying with a time of 13.76. That run came at the Air Force Twilight Open where reset his school record mark after originally breaking it at the Colorado Invitational.
All the action of the West Region can be seen on the ESPN family of networks.
