BOISE, Idaho – As Northern Colorado Women's Basketball preps for its first-round matchup with Eastern Washington, there's already a reason to celebrate Monday morning with both Hannah Simental and Kurstyn Harden announced as all-conference selections.
Simental landed on the All-Big Sky Second Team, while Harden was named to the Third Team. It's the first All-Conference selection for both student-athletes.
For Simental, she pieced together one of the most impressive seasons in the Big Sky in shooting the basketball. On the season, no one was better from the three-point arc than the Pueblo, Colorado native. At 41.3 percent, Simental led the Big Sky and finished No. 23 in the country in the category.
She led the team in scoring with 14.4 per game and her clutch free-throw shooting performance helped close out multiple victories across 2021-22. In the fourth quarter or overtime, Simental is 55-58 (95%) from the charity stripe this season.
Harden has pieced together her own noteworthy efforts this year. The sophomore from Lufkin, Texas led UNC and was seventh in the conference in rounding with 7.4 per contest.
Kurstyn has also been almost unstoppable in the painted area this season. Against Sacramento State, she poured in a career-high 30 points, including an incredible 24 in the fourth quarter.
Northern Colorado begins its journey through the Big Sky Tournament on Monday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m. MT versus Eastern Washington. The Game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
