Men's Basketball starts back-to-back against Northern Arizona Saturday

UNC men's basketball faces Northern Arizona Saturday afternoon.
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's basketball looks to rebound with on the first of a back-to-back against Northern Arizona on Saturday. The Bears travel to Flagstaff to face the Lumberjacks at 2 pm.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado aims to end a three-game losing streak on Saturday
- Daylen Kountz has scored 57 points already this week. He had 27 points on Thursday and dished out a career-high six assists.
- Kountz continues to lead the Big Sky in scoring averaging 20.6 points per game.
- Dru Kuxhausen scored in double figures for a fifth straight game with 18 points. He is second in the Big Sky in threes per game with 3.19 and a percentage at 44.7%. Kuxhausen also ranks in the top 25 in the nation in each category.
- Bodie Hume recorded his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He also added in two steals Thursday night.
- Hume is three points away from moving to seventh on the program's all-time scoring list.
- Matt Johnson II had another strong performance on Thursday with 18 points and four assists on 7-of-11 shooting.
- Saturday starts a second straight back-to-back against the same opponent for UNC. The Bears and Lumberjacks will square off in Greeley on Monday at 7:30 pm.
- NAU returns home after earning a narrow 62-61 win at Sacramento State Thursday night.
Scouting the Lumberjacks
It has been an up and down season for Northern Arizona enters Saturday with an 8-13 record. The Lumberjacks are 4-6 in Big Sky. Their past two wins have come against Sacramento State including a 62-61 win in Sacramento.
Transfer Jalen Cone has been lighting up the scoreboard for NAU this year averaging 19.3 points per game. The second most in the Big Sky.
Northern Arizona is a solid rebounding team averaging 36.95 per game to rank third in the conference.
Around the Big Sky
Weber State avenged its lone loss of the conference season defeating Montana at home 80-75. The schedule doesn't get any easier for WSU as they now host Montana State Saturday night in a battle for first place. Another key matchup on the calendar features Eastern Washington traveling to Southern Utah.
