FARMINGTON, Utah—After setting school records in their respective events, Northern Colorado's Jerome Campbell and Regina Mpigachai were selected as the Big Sky Indoor Track Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Competing in the 60-meter hurdles, Campbell not only established a new school, but also set a Big Sky record while competing at Purdue's Edmonds-Wilt Invitational. Campbell raced to a 7.81 in the prelims before unleashing a 7.71 in the finals. The time is currently good for No. 2 on the NCAA DI performance list. In addition to his win in the hurdles, Campbell topped the field in flat 60 with a 6.80 which currently stands as the No. 4 mark in the Midwest Region.
Mpigachai, meanwhile, set her second school record in as many weeks with a win in the mile at the Edmonds-Wilt Invitational. Mpigachai won the event with a 4:47.20 to slash more than four seconds off her own school record mark. The time coverts to a 4:44.39 which stands as the No. 3 mark in the Mountain Region so far this year. Mpigachai also ran a leg on the meet-winning 1,600-meter relay team that crossed in 3:55.37 (converted to 3:52.29) for the No. 2 time in the region.
