FARMINGTON, Utah – Following one of the best weeks in recent memory for Northern Colorado Volleyball, the Bears can add a pair of Big Sky Player of the Week awards to its accolades. Kailey Jo Ince took home the offensive award, while Kyndall Feather secured the defensive honor the conference announced Monday.
Ince was electric all week long. The senior from Hesston, Kansas was vital in securing UNC's first win over in-state rival Colorado State for the first time in 39 years with her 14 kill, seven dig effort. Days later, at the Denver Invite, she aided the Bears to continue its undefeated run, including a Northern Colorado season-high .579 hitting effort against Mercer and a 25-kill, 13 dig double-double in UNC's comeback win against Northeastern.
In total, Ince put up 59 kills (3.69 kills per set), with a .288 hitting percentage, 28 digs, three aces and four blocks.
Kyndall Feather was a two-time Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week last spring and has brought the same energy this fall. In each of the five matches to open the season, Feather has tallied double-figure dig totals. The Sterling, Colorado native posted a season-high 16 digs in the big win over CSU, holding a potent Rams offense to .195 hitting, and flexed her muscles for a 15-dig performance versus Northeastern, holding the Huskies to a .175 hitting in the five-set affair.
Across the Bears' four wins last week, Feather racked up 54 digs (3.38 digs per set), three aces and eight assists.
Northern Colorado preps for another busy week of Volleyball. UNC welcomes Texas Tech to the Bank of Colorado Arena on Wednesday, September 8, and San Jose State on Thursday, September 9, all before squaring off against Colorado in Boulder on Saturday, September 11.
