Women's Golf Takes Second Place at Kelsey Chugg Invite

Five Bears finish in the top 25
EDEN, Utah – Back in the state of Utah for the second straight week, Five Northern Colorado women's golfers finished in the top 25 helping UNC to a second place finish at the Kelsey Chugg Invite. UNC shot a 58-over, 922, improving each round.
Amy Chitkoksoong and Maria Vallejo tied for 10th with a 14-over 230. Both rebounded nicely after shooting in the 80s in the first round. Chitkoksoong closed out the tournament with an even-par 72. Her final round included four birdies. She tied for the tournament lead with 11 birdies.
Vallejo recorded her first career top 10 finish with a 75, 74 in the second and third round. It was her play on the par 4s that propelled her in the top 10 shooting 1-under on them. She was the only player in the field to go under par on the par 4s.
Rounding out UNC's group of five in the top 25 were Jenna Chun (18th), Camila Velasquez (T19th) and Abbi Fleiner (T21st).
In a field of seven Big Sky schools, only Weber State, the hosts and tournament champions finished ahead of UNC.

Northern Colorado is off until October when they tee it up at the Ron Moore Invite October 8-10 hosted by Denver at the University of Denver Golf Course in Highlands Ranch.
