Volleyball races past Cowgirls in exhibition

GREELEY, Colo. – It won't count in terms of official stats or record but Northern Colorado Volleyball's 3-1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 27-25) exhibition win over Wyoming will undoubtedly boost the confidence for head coach Lyndsey Oates' squad heading into the regular season.
It was the visitors who rocketed off to a hot start inside the Bank of Colorado Arena. Wyoming hit .256 and racked up two aces and three blocks to take the opening frame.
Fueled by a raucous home crowd, the Bears roared back.
Makenzie Harries and Cece Huhn combined for four kills apiece while Lauren Strain and Syd Cole tallied five block assists between the pair.
Huhn finished with 11 kills and led the team in hitting at .471 out of the middle.
Following a 25-12 second-set win, UNC added more of the same in the third set. Along with Harris and Huhn, Kailey Jo Ince leaped into double-figures with 12 kills and was one dig away from a double-double.
It was Harris, though, who stole the show.
The Eaton, Colorado native's 17 kills was a match-high and her 10 digs have her the only double-double between both schools.
Aggressive serving led to eight aces for the Blue and Gold on Friday evening. Four of them came from Kyndall Feather, two from Michaela Boon and Rachel Hickman's second ace of the match was the final nail in the coffin for the Cowgirls.
Along with an exhibition win, Oates managed to virtually every player on the roster some playing time.
