Year in Review: Women's Soccer

Soccer put up a fight all season including their matchup against Idaho State where the Bears held them scoreless in 180 minutes of soccer with just 6 shots, only 3 of which were on goal. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Franza launched the ball nearly 70 yards recording an assist against NAU. The Bears saw several all conference selections including junior Lindsi Jennings being named Co-Defensive MVP.

Northern Colorado's defense was a force to be reckoned with all season long. In back-to-back games against Idaho State, the Bears held the Bengals to just six shots, three on goal, across 180 minutes of soccer.Â

Junior defender Lindsi Jennings picked was unaminoulsy voted Big Sky Co-Defensive MVP. Northern Colorado's ironwoman has played a team-leading 656 minutes, including 110 against Weber State.

It's not everyday a goalkeeper can claim an assist. Junior Ahsley Franza sent Bears fans into a frenzy, booting a ball nearly 70 yards and sending Kaitlyn Meeder goalwards to score against Northern Arizona.Â

Maddie Barkow's patended flip throws were legendary around the Big Sky Conference. Three times this spring a Barkow throw led directly to a UNC goal. None were more noteworthy than her effort in the final 10 seconds against Northern Arizona.Â

Six Bears picks up All-Conference Honors in the spring of 2021. With Co-Defensive MVP Lindsi Jennings leading the way, Maddie Barkow, Mackenzie Bray, Olivia Seddon, Maddie Duren and Kaitlyn Meeder were all selected as well.Â

Northern Colorado qualified for its eighth consecutive Big Sky Tournament.
