GREENWOOD, Ind. – The awards keeping coming for Maddie Barkow and justifiably so. This week, Barkow was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team member for District 7.
"This is yet another incredible honor for Maddie," said head coach Tim Barrera. "I'm very proud of the work she's done here both on and off the pitch. I have zero doubt in my mind she will go on to do great things in her career."
Awarded to the most accomplished student-athletes for academic and athletic achievement since 1952, nominees must be a starter or prominent reserve on their respective teams and maintain a GPA of at least 3.30.
The 2019 Big Sky Co-Defensive MVP was tabbed as an All-Big Sky First Team selection in 2020. Maddie recorded one assist and her flip throws have directly led to three goals last season, including the last-second tying goal against Northern Arizona. Barkow graduated with a degree in sports and exercise science, managed an incredible 3.87 GPA and will go on to pursue a doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis.
Barkow's latest achievement comes off the heals of a second Scholar All-Region honor. The Longmont, Colorado, native was placed on the Second Team alongside Olivia Seddon while Linsdi Jennings picked up First Team honors.
