Volleyball unveils 2021 schedule

GREELEY, Colo. – As NCAA Division I Volleyball returns to its rightful season in the fall, Northern Colorado has lined up another dynamic schedule for the 2021 campaign.
This year's slate features 12 non-conference matchups, including six of them inside Bank of Colorado Arena, three contests against Power Five opponents and an NCAA Tournament qualifier in South Dakota.
"I am really pleased with how our schedule turned out," said head coach Lyndsey Oates. "It was late finalizing our schedule this year because we just finished our spring season, but I think we have a very competitive schedule that will challenge us but also allow us to build confidence going into conference play. One of the highlights is that we will get to play four regional schools (CSU/Wyoming at home and CU/Denver away). Those regional rivalries are important, they are fun for fans, and they easier for travel as well."
UNC kickstarts its 2021 season with four straight home matches, beginning with a familiar foe in Wyoming on Friday, August 20.
The Bears will host a tournament that features the Big Ten's Northwestern (August 27) along with South Dakota (August 28). UNC will then host in-state rival Colorado State (August 31) before heading to a tournament hosted by another Centennial State foe in Denver on September 3-4.
Head coach Lyndsey Oates and company return to Greeley for another Power Five matchup against Texas Tech on September 8, and one more Mountain West opponent in San Jose State on September 9.
Before kicking off Big Sky play, Northern Colorado heads back out on the road for four more matches. UNC visits the PAC-12's Colorado (Sept. 11) and then heads to a tournament at Bradley to play St. Louis (Sept. 17), the Braves (Sept. 17) and former Big Sky member North Dakota (Sept. 18).
Thursday, September 23, officially marks the beginning of the Bears' run to a ninth Big Sky regular-season title. Conference programming is back to normal as UNC will face Montana, Montana State, Weber State, Idaho State, Idaho and Eastern Washington both in the Bank of Colorado Arena and on the road.
Notably, Senior Day falls on November 6, against Weber State in a rematch of last year's Big Sky Championship.
Outside the home and home matches, the Bears draw Southern Utah and Northern Arizona at home and will travel to Sacramento State and Portland State.
