Four Bears sit in top 20 after first day of Big Sky Championship

Northern Colorado sits in sixth place heading into round two
MOLALLA, Ore. – Four Northern Colorado women's golfers sit in the top 20 after the first day of the Big Sky Championship. The quartet helped UNC shoot an opening-round 22-over, 310 to sit in sixth place just two strokes outside of the top five.
Abbi Fleiner led the charge shooting a 4-over, 76 at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Oregon to sit in a tie for 15th place. The sophomore birdied the par 5 first and went out with an even-par 35. It was a rollercoaster of a back nine for the Reno native. She started it with an eagle on the par 5 10th, one of only two players to record an eagle on Monday. Fleiner went on to shoot a 4-over, 41 on the back nine that featured a plus or minus on every hole.
The trio of Marisa Hisaki, Maria Vallejo Gomez and Jenna Chun each shot a 6-over, 78 on Monday. Vallejo Gomez led that group with three birdies, while Chun was consistent all round recording 13 pars. She had the fifth most pars on the day, one back of the lead. The three enter tomorrow's round tied for 19th.
