Bears season comes to a close, dropping semifinal to Idaho State
3/10/2021 8:58:00 PM | Women's Basketball
BOISE, Idaho – Northern Colorado just couldn't take the lid off the basket.
A cold night from the floor had the Bears playing catch up all evening long. In the end, the hole was just too deep to dig out of, falling to Idaho State, 65-55.
Alisha Davis picked right back up where she left off a night ago, scoring the team's first eight points of the night.
The Bears shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening quarter as they remained knotted at 17.
Alecia Whyte was one of the few who found a way to score in that second quarter, earning two trips to the free-throw line from her aggressiveness where she'd go 3-for-4.
Whyte continued to be the spark for head coach Jenny Huth to start the second half. The sophomore buried three buckets and earned another trip to the charity stripe.
Northern Colorado held Idaho State without a field goal for three-plus minutes in the fourth quarter but was unable to capitalize on the Bengal drought.
The Bears fought until the bitter end, a testament to the team's grit and determination all season long. Just as the Bears knocked down every late free throw last night Idaho State did the same, sealing the win and ending the season for UNC, 65-55.
Stat of the Game
Rebounds – Idaho State outrebounded UNC 42-34 which led to 13 second-chance points. Northern Colorado had only won one other game in which it was outrebounded.
