Men's Golf earns top five finish to start 2021 season

Jack Castiglia finished in sixth place on the individual leaderboard
ST. GEORGE, Utah – Northern Colorado men's golf earned a top five finish to start the 2021 season finishing tied for fourth at the Pat Hicks Invite at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George Utah. UNC moved up three spots from the start of the day shooting an 8-under 280 a day after posting a 7-under 281.
Jack Castiglia led the way on Monday with a 6-under 66. He played a flawless round with six birdies and no bogeys. He put a stretch of three straight birdies together on holes 14-16. The round pushed him into a solo sixth place finish on the individual leaderboard.
Three other Bears finished the tournament inside the top 30.
Freshman Westin Pals capped off his first career collegiate event with a 3-under, 69. He ended up an even-par 216 for the tournament to finish tied for 26th. He reached 3-under with an eagle on the par 5 seventh hole.
TJ Shehee ended up tied for 22nd with a 1-under 215. He closed his week with a 1-over 73. He placed five birdies onto his scorecard.
Blake Danni was the final Bear to finish in the top 30 with an even-par 72 on Monday. He ended up with a 1-over 217 for the tournament. He entered his final seven holes at 3-over for the round before closing it out with four birdies and a bogey.
Prenzlow's Perspective
Another great day for the Bears playing with a great desire to compete! Jack was terrific all day with no bogeys shooting 66. Freshman Westin Pals was solid and hit some terrific golf shots and made putts. All the guys showed flashes of really getting back into the swing of collegiate golf. We need to have a great week of practice then head to a very strong field in Palm Springs. It should be fun!
