Men's Hoops Ready to Challenge No.8/6 Arizona

UNC faces No.8/6 Arizona on Wednesday
GREELEY, Colo. – Fresh off a 3-0 weekend and taking care of business during finals week, Northern Colorado men's basketball is ready to take on one of the top teams in the nation. UNC faces No. 8/6 Arizona on Wednesday night at 7 pm. The game will air on the PAC 12 Network with Ted Robinson and Bill Walton on the call.
Opening Tip
- Northern Colorado concluded a three-game homestand going 3-0 with a 74-69 win over South Dakota.
- Daylen Kountz and Matt Johnson II combined for 45 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. Kountz led the team with 24 points, his seventh 20-point game of the season. Johnson II had his best scoring performance of the season with 21 points and led the team with three assists. Their free throw shooting was key down the stretch combing to go 11-for-13.
- Kur Jongkuch once again dominated the boards grabbing a game-high 12 boards. He leads the Bears with 9.9 per game.
- Bodie Hume did a little bit of everything scoring 10 points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out three assists and recording one steal.
- Northern Colorado outscored South Dakota 20-0 on fast break points.
- UNC outrebounded Montana 35-24.
- Wednesday marks the first of two straight games for Northern Colorado against a Pac 12 opponent. They take on Washington State on Saturday.

Scouting the Wildcats
First year head coach Tommy Lloyd has one of the best teams in the nation right now in Arizona. The Wildcats enter Wednesday ranked No. 8/6.
Arizona is coming on an 83-79 comeback win at Illinois on Saturday to remain undefeated. Four Wildcats are averaging double figures scoring led by Benedict Mathurin's 18.4 point per game.
While the offense is impressive averaging 90.7 points and shooting 49.2% on the year, the defense is just as good. UA is holding teams to 61.7 points and 35.3% shooting.

Northern Colorado continues its PAC 12 road trip by going to the Palouse to face Washington State Saturday at 2 pm MT.
