Daylen Kountz scored a career-high 33 points Wednesday night
TUCSON, Ariz. – Steve Smiley's Northern Colorado men's basketball team has sent a message all year long. They are a team that will not back down against any opponent. The Bears fell to No. 8/6 Arizona on Wednesday night 101-76, but the score isn't indicative of the battle UNC put up.
Senior Daylen Kountz set the tone early and often as he went off for a career-high 33 points. The Denver native scored 23 of his 33 in the first half including a personal 8-0 that tied the game at 13. He was super-efficient from the field going 12-of-19 making 4-of-5 threes and being a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
Another key catalyst on the night for the Bears was Matt Johnson II. He had 18 points and a team-high four assists. His three with 11 minutes in the game made it a four-point game, but Arizona ran away after that. The Wildcats ended up closing the game out on a 30-9 run.

The Bears had clawed back to that point thanks in part to Dru Kuxhausen finding his shot in the second half. He went 4-of-7 from deep on his way to 15 points all coming in the second half.1H | @mattoraw23 with 11 on the night now! #GetUpGreeley🐻🏀 pic.twitter.com/FDJ0Dexhor
