Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Strain was nearly perfect in the win over the Griz. Her 17 kills on .556 hitting were one shy of a career-high for the Thornton native.
Last time out
Head coach Lyndsey Oates recorded her 300th career win against Montana as the Bears reaffirmed itself as one of the powerhouses in the Big Sky Conference with bounceback wins over the Bobcats and Griz.
Scouting Idaho State
Idaho State is still without a victory since the last time UNC saw the Bengals back in early October. However, head coach Sammi Stuart has her defense playing with energy. The Bengals rank No. 2 in the conference in team digs with 1,301.
Freshman outside hitter Sadie Bluth has been a bright spot for ISU. With 22 kills (2.71 per set), Bluth leads the Bengals.
Meanwhile, sisters Asiah and Aliyah Sopoaga have been running down the digs on defense. Asiah has a team-leading 292 (3.65 per set) while Aliyah owns 207 (2.59 per set).
History against the Bengals
The Bears swept the Bengals back in October as Lauren Strain went for a match-high 16 kills, hitting .480 out of the middle. With the win, UNC is now 22-13 all-time against Idaho State.
Scouting Weber State
Despite dropping its last two matches, Weber State remains one of the toughest outs in the conference. Not only is Jeremiah Larsen's crew the best serving team in the Big Sky, at 2.20 aces per set, the Wildcats are the third-best in the nation. Dani Nay, Ashlyn Power and Rylin Adams all rank in the top-10 in the conference in aces per set individually.
Outside hitter Rylin Adams has been dominant for Weber State this season. The senior from Lehi, Utah is first in the conference in attacks per set (11.78), kills per set (3.76), points (342.0) and points per set (4.28).
History against the Wildcats
UNC fell to the Wildcats the first time these two programs matched up. However, the Bears still hold a 24-14 record against WSU all-time.
Looking Ahead.
With a spot in the conference tournament already clinched, Northern Colorado will look for a top seed heading to Eastern Washington and Idaho to end the regula season.
