FARMINGTON, Utah – One of the magnificent eight that earned two hard-fought wins over the weekend, Lauren Strain's week gets a little more special as the sophomore was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week Monday.
The Thornton, Colorado native began her week with a career-high 18 kills on 34 attempts with only three errors (.441). Strain added six digs, a block assist and a solo block to help secure the Bears' 3-1 win over Southern Utah.
Two nights later, the sophomore middle blocker was flexing her muscles once again against Northern Arizona. Twelve kills on an even .500 hitting, plus five block assists and an ace proved too much for the Lumberjacks to handle.
Alongside her career-high kill total, Strain posted career-bests in points (19.5 vs. SUU), aces (1 vs. NAU) and digs (6 vs. SUU).
Monday's honor is the first time Strain has been selected as a conference player of the week. Both Kailey Jo Ince and Kyndall Feather secured the award earlier this season following an undefeated weekend at the Denver Invitational.
Northern Colorado heads out on the road this week for matchups against an also undefeated Weber State squad and Idaho State.
