UNC women's basketball adds Reka Soos to its 2020 recruiting class
Northern Colorado women's basketball added to its frontcourt depth with the signing of Reka Soos from Zsombo, Hungary and most recently Casper College. The 6-2 forward will come in and compete right away for the Bears who graduated a trio of post players in 2020.
"We are super excited to add Reka to our 2020 recruiting class! She brings both the experience of playing internationally and here at home for this year's Region IX Champions," Casper College, head coach Jenny Huth said. "Reka is a very hard worker with high character traits that echo our team's core values! Her versatility as a post player to not only finish around the rim but also knock down the three-pointer will be a tremendous asset to us over the next couple of years!"
Soos averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season for Casper College who went 29-3 and won the NJCAA Region IX Championship. They defeated the No. 2 team in the nation, Western Nebraska, in the championship game. She graduated from Casper College with an associate degree in business.
Before attending Casper College, she played for FC Barcelona where she averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
"I chose UNC because I feel this university experience will give me the knowledge, skills, and confidence to help me make lifelong friendships and memories. The kindness and helpfulness of the coaches made this decision easier than I expected. I know by being a Bear I will be part of another family where I can feel I'm at home."
Soos picked UNC over Cleveland State, Nevada, Robert Morris, Vermont and UT Rio Grande Valley.
She joins the 2020 Northern Colorado recruiting class that featured three signees during the fall.
