Baseball Hosts North Dakota State in Home Opener

GREELEY, Colo. – After being on the road for the first three weekend series of the 2020 season, the Northern Colorado Bears baseball team will finally play their Home Opener at Jackson Field this weekend against the North Dakota State Bison.
The first pitch of the four-game weekend series will be Friday at 2 PM. The Bears and Bison will play a double-header on Saturday, and cap off the series on Sunday at noon. All games can be followed through live stats on UNCBears.com
Series Record
UNC is 18-15 all-time against North Dakota State. The Bears and Bison are no strangers, as this weekend will make it six out of the last seven seasons they have met on the diamond, and the third year in a row. Friday will mark the 24th game in a row played in Greeley between UNC and NDSU. Last season, the Bears took the 2-1 series win over the Bison. In 2018, the teams split the four-game series.

About the Bears
The Bears were road warriors to start the season, traveling to Lubbock, Albuquerque, and Boise to play their first 11 games of the season. Josh Glenn currently sits with the highest batting average for the Bears at .323. Sam Leach leads the Bears in runs batted in with 10 on the season, and is one of four Bears who have notched 10 hits so far. Issac Bracken continues to lead on the mound for the Bears. In 18.1 innings pitched so far this season, Bracken has struck out 13 batters and allowed just eight earned runs in his appearances.
About the Bison
The Bison come into Greeley riding a three-game win streak after taking two games over St. Bonaventure and one game over Minnesota. NDSU defeated the Bonnies in a Sunday double-header after having their first two games cancelled due to weather. The Bison come to Greeley from Minneapolis, where they enjoyed a 7-4 win over Minnesota on Tuesday night. North Dakota State currently sits at 6-7 overall for the season, and will begin Summit conference league play after the series against the Bears.
What's on Deck
UNC will be on the road again after this weekend and it will be a quick turnaround with two games in Lincoln, Nebraska on Tuesday and Wednesday against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. After their games at Nebraska, the Bears will head to San Jose, California for a three-game weekend series against the Spartans of San Jose State.
