BOISE, ID – The Bears capped off the four-game weekend series in Boise, Idaho on Sunday afternoon, with Boise State completing the defense of their home field on opening weekend with the 8-2 win over the Bears on Sunday afternoon.
Dylan Bowers got the start on the mound for UNC, who began the first inning not allowing a hit to the Broncos. He put together a nice outing, going 5.0 innings with six strikeouts and only allowing one earned run.
Scoring opened up in the top of the second for the Bears, who took advantage of three walks and a hit by pitch to bring two runs in from Lincoln Turner and Quin Ayers to make it 2-0, UNC out in front. However, the Broncos answered with two runs of their own in the inning to tie the game back up at 2-2.
The game stayed tied at two for the next three innings before the Broncos took their first lead of the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to give BSU the 4-2 lead. Boise added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh to increase the lead to 7-2. The Broncos would add one more run to make the final score after nine innings 8-2.
We will finally have baseball back at the Jack this Friday when the Bears host the North Dakota State Bison in their home opener for the 2020 season. Game one in Greeley will be played on Friday, March 6 at 2 PM.
