NEW ORLEANS – The University of Northern Colorado's men's and women's cross-country teams have earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2019 season.
Both the men's and women's teams recorded a cumulative grade point average higher than the 3.0 average required to be eligible for the award.
The men's team earned the honor with a grade point average of 3.41 for the year along with 191 other teams.
UNC's women's team was also recognized with 237 other teams for having maintained a 3.45 grade average for the year.
Northern Colorado Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Wayne Angel is proud of the honor given to the Bears this year.
"An award like this shows the hard work and dedication these athletes put forth into being true scholar-athletes," said Angel. "As a coach, I am equally as proud of what they do in the classroom as I am proud of what they do on the course."
Arkansas women's team was awarded the Scholar Team of the Year award with a 3.59 grade average. The men's Scholar Team of the Year was BYU with a cumulative average of 3.42.
The Bears maintained these high grades, while also doing great things on the course.
UNC's men's team has its best finish at the Big Sky Championship by taking fifth place this year.
