Bears start spring slate in Fort Collins on Sunday
The 2019 Big Sky Champions are back on the pitch this weekend as Northern Colorado soccer's spring schedule gets underway.
UNC will compete in an 9 v 9 tournament at Colorado State on Sunday, March. 1. The Bears will split into two teams and play split-squads from CSU, Air Force and Denver. The first UNC squad will play DU's first team at 9 a.m., followed by each schools second teams at 9:30.
"Spring is a great opportunity for our team to start preparations for the fall," head coach Tim Barrera said. "We get a chance to play all of our players and continue their development. You can't manufacture game experience and these games allow us to see some different looks with tough competition."
Along with the spring schedule getting underway, UNC host its Alumni game on April 25 at Jackson Stadium. The game will begin at 12 p.m.(MST) and all former student-athletes are invited.
The Bears will also host Regis on Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m.
UNC will travel to play Colorado College on Sunday, March 8 at 11 a.m. That same day, the Bears will play CSU-Pueblo at 3:30 p.m. Both games will have a 90-minute clock.
At the end of March, the Bears will head back up to Fort Collins to play a regular 11 v 11 game against the Rams at 6 p.m. in Canvas Stadium. The two teams will play three, 35-minute periods.
Moving to April, the Bears will play Wyoming at DU on Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. UNC will then play the host school, DU, at 6 p.m. Each game will have only a 70-minute clock.
