Wildcats Top Bears Thursday night

Northern Colorado fell below .500 after losing to Weber State
Northern Colorado women's basketball could not hold on against Weber State on Thursday night and fell to the Wildcats, 65-60. UNC dropped to 2-2 in the Big Sky and 6-7 overall.
Weber St. out-rebounded UNC, 46-35, but lost the scoring battle in the paint, 34-24 to the Bears. UNC also struggled with fouls in the game and it disrupted their offensive flow, committing 20 total against Weber St. The Wildcats also hit timely threes, going 3-for-6 in the fourth quarter push ahead of the Bears.
The two teams were tied at 17 after the first quarter, with UNC shooting 46.2 percent. Alexis Chapman led UNC with seven points.
Midway through the second quarter, the Bears built a 26-17 lead over Weber St. Despite the run, the Wildcats countered with their own, outscoring UNC 12-4 to close out the half. Chapman picked up her third foul in the quarter and was forced to the bench. The Bears led 30-29 over Weber St.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats tied the game up at 46. UNC managed only a 37.5 shooting percentage. Jasmine Gayles poured in five points in the quarter.
Weber St. pulled ahead of UNC in the fourth 51-48. The Bears were able to stay close as Chapman returned to the court and scored eight points. Her three with 5:41 left in the game gave UNC the lead back at 55-44. Kori Pentzer scored two possessions later to give the Wildcats the lead. Alisha Davis powered into the paint for the layup and UNC was back in front 57-56. Weber St. would score the next six points and held on for the 65-60 win over the Bears.

- Alexis Chapman scored 17 points on Thursday night to give her six consecutive games in double figures. Chapman was 6-of-13 from the floor, going 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
- UNC had seven blocks as a team, with Alisha Davis and Kurstyn Harden each recording two, a career-best for Harden.
- Alisha Davis recorded her sixth double-digit scoring game of the season with 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
- Jasmine Gayles matched her career-high with five assists against the Wildcats.
- Mele Finau recorded her first career assists, finishing with four on the night.
