Northern Colorado will use the week off to refocus and move up the Big Sky standings

Northern Colorado will enjoy its home court this weekend, as they will play two games, starting with the Vandals on Saturday afternoon.

Opening Tip
Northern Colorado went 1-1 on its road trip last weekend, defeating Sacramento State, 73-63, and then falling to Northern Arizona, 72-45. The Bears could not complete the road trip sweep against NAU on Saturday. UNC was held to a 28.3 shooting percentage in the game, while the Lumberjacks had a 45.6 percentage. The Lumberjacks were in control after the first quarter, leading the Bears 26-10. The scoring slowed down in the second quarter, but NAU continued to pad its lead, outscoring UNC, 15-8 for a 41-18 lead. NAU would go onto win the game, 72-45.

Alexis Chapman leads UNC with 13.3 points per game and is shooting 34.3 percent from the floor and 34 percent from three-point range.

Alisha Davis had been the Bears major post presence this season, leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game and ranks near the top of the Big Sky with 30 blocks.

UNC's bench production has been key all season, outscoring its opponents in 12 of the team's 15 games.

Scouting the Vandals
Idaho is currently second in the big Sky with a 5-1 conference record and is 10-5 overall this season. The Vandals won both home games last weekend, topping Eastern Washington, 69-60. They squeaked by Montana, 52-51, to give the team a three-game winning streak. Gina Marxen is the Vandals leading scorer, averaging 13.5 points per game, while shooting 35.1 percent this season. Lizzy Klinker protects the paint for Idaho, leading the team with 7.2 rebounds per game.

History Against Idaho
Northern Colorado holds a 7-2 record against the Vandals, going 3-1 in both Greeley and Moscow, with a 1-0 record at neutral sites. In February of 2019, UNC defeated Idaho, 77-72, at Bank of Colorado Arena in the last meeting between the two teams.

On This Date
On the 25th of January, UNC is 3-8, going 2-3 at home and 1-5 on the road. In the Bears last game on the 25^th, they also played Idaho, falling to the Vandals, 71-79 in Greeley.

Around the Big Sky
Northern Colorado sits at sixth in the conference currently, one game Montana for fifth place. Montana State currently leads the conference with a 6-1 record, followed by the Vandals. Northern Arizona is third with a 5-2 record.
