Fleiner Takes Second, Trio of Bears Finish in Top 15

Freshman Abbi Fleiner finished in second place in her first college tournament
FORT COLLINS – There were no nerves for freshman Abbi Fleiner who finished in second place at the Colonel Wellenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic in her first college event. Fleiner shot a 2-over, 74 in the final round to finish at 2-over for the tournament with a 218, one stroke behind individual medalist Lexi Perry of Boise State.
Joining Fleiner in the top 15 were teammates Jenna Chun (T9) and Marisa Hisaki (T12). Chun, competing as an individual in the tournament shot a 2-over, 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for ninth. Meanwhile, Hisaki had the best round of the day for UNC with an even-par, 72.
Northern Colorado finished in eighth place shooting a 913 overall, including a team-best 299 for the tournament in the final round.
Fleiner road the birdie train all tournament long finishing it with 11 for the third most of the 54-hole event.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado heads to Oregon next week to compete in the Rose City Classic hosted by Portland State at the Langdon Farms Golf Club over September 30 and October 1.
