Beah Cruz Sets Women's Golf Program Record Monday

Beah Cruz set the UNC women's golf lowest round record Monday at the Rose City Intercollegiate
AURORA, Ore. – Beah Cruz reclaimed her UNC women's golf program record for lowest round shot with a 6-under, 66 on Monday afternoon at the Rose City Intercollegiate. Cruz had a bogey-free round with six birdies including closing the round strong with back-to-back birdies on her final two holes.
Both the Bears and Cruz charged up the leaderboard during Monday's afternoon round to sit in fourth and third place on the team and individual leaderboards.
Cruz is 2-under, 142, for the tournament after an opening-round 76.
Northern Colorado cut 10 strokes off its score from the first to second round going from a 305 to 295. For the tournament, UNC is at 24-over, 600. The Bears are one stroke behind Seattle entertaining tomorrow.
Marissa Hisaki and Jenna Chun also sit in the top 25 after the first day. Hisaki is in a tie for 13th shooting a 76, 75 on Monday.
Chun is tied for 24th with her 78, 75.
Portie's Perspective
Today was a pretty good day again for the Bears and a great day for Beah! We got off to a slow start again in our first 9 holes as we opened in fifth place after the first round, but the team executed better in the afternoon. Beah was 3-over through her first 3 holes and had a great attitude all day to hit some really good shots and make some putts. She had a bogey-free, six birdie round in the afternoon. We sit in fourth place, but I like how the team is controlling their situations and extremely positive right now, which makes me feel great heading into tomorrow and the rest of the season!
