Northern Colorado volleyball has added one of the biggest names in the state's volleyball history, Pi'i Aiu, to its coaching staff.
He comes to Greeley after 12 seasons at the University of Colorado where he piled up more wins, 199, than anyone in the history of the Buffs program.
"I am thrilled to hire a coach with the experience of Pi'i," said UNC head coach Lyndsey Oates. "I have known Pi'i for years as a coach and professional. He is incredibly liked and respected around the country. His teams at CU were consistently in the top 25 rankings, but what stands out to me the most is his character. He is going to challenge athletes to be their best in a positive way, he's going to keep the game in perspective, and he is going to do things the right way."
In 1997 he was named Big 12 Coach of the Year, as well as District V Coach of the Year after he led CU to a 22-9 record and an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16.
Most recently he was a coach at The Diff where in his first season he led his 16s team to a bronze finish at the national tournament. It was the only team from the state of Colorado to medal at the national competition.
