After eight seasons as the head coach of the men's and women's track and field and cross country programs at the University of Northern Colorado Amanda Schick has decided to leave the university and pursue other opportunities.
"I have enjoyed my time here at UNC, but at this point in my life I feel like it is time to go in a different direction," said Schick. "I would like to thank all the student-athletes who made my stay here at UNC an enjoyable one."
During her time as head coach Alex Wesley set new program records in the 400-meter run and became an All-American as a junior. This season multiple athletes have made it to the regional meet in Sacramento, Calif. and will be coached by assistant coaches Matt Robbins, Chaz Butler and Remington Blair.
"The UNC athletic department would like to thank Amanda for her time and dedication to the programs she led over the past eight years," said UNC Athletic Director Darren Dunn. "We want to wish her the best of luck going forward."
A national search for UNC's track and field and cross country head coach will begin immediately.
