Big ninth inning halts Bears comeback

The Bears got the first two on to start the eighth, but with two outs they hadn't been able to add to the scoreboard. A wild pitch brought home Vela, which cut the lead to 6-5. UNC went on to load the bases but failed to score again.
UNC fell behind in the sixth after taking a 2-1 lead. They chipped away with single runs in the bottom of the sixth on Jake Gitter RBI double. Once again, they scored one time in the seventh on a Billy Moreland RBI single.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
- Adrian Vela got the scoring started for UNC with a solo home run in the first. He added a single.
- Gitter, Jack Pauley and Hayden Heinze all doubled.
UNC and CBU will be back at it on Saturday for Game 2 of the weekend series.
