Sam Leach put the ball in play and scored the first UNC run when Jake Gitter came around to score on a throwing error.
Tyler Yamaguchi got credited with the lone Bears RBI when he drove in Billy Moreland in the fifth inning.
The problem for NC was they couldn't keep UP off the scoreboard. The Pilots scored 13 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings combined.
SCHEDULE SAYS
UNC will try and wash the nasty taste out of their mouths when they start a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
