The first Big Sky Conference victory of the spring was a convincing one for the Bears. Despite the temperature outside, the Bears heated up at Work Out West against Montana State, defeating the Bobcats 5-2.
The path to earning the doubles point began with No. 3 doubles Sandra Keta/Sarina Chhabra, taking a victory over their opponent 6-4.
With things tied up after a No. 2 MSU win over Madeline Doherty/Synclair Larson, the doubles point came down to the No. 1 pairing of Anna Battersby/Raffa Mora, who were able to pull out a tough win 7-6(4) to go up 1-0 over MSU.
After earning the doubles point, the Bears never looked back. Sandra Keta made quick work of her opponent in the No. 3 matchup, earing the first singles win on the day 6-3, 6-1.
The Bobcats were able to split the next two pairings, taking a tough-fought victory over No. 1 Anna Battersby 6-4, 0-6, 2-6 and No. 4 Madeline Doherty 1-6, 5-7.
Raffa Mora went three sets with her opponent in No. 2 winning 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 to maintain the lead for the Bears 3-2.
The fourth point clinching the match for the Bears was well-earned by Synclair Larson, who after dropping the first set 4-6, came back to defeat her opponent 6-3, 6-2.
Sarina Chhabra capped the day off with another three-set win of her own 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Head Coach Chad Stoloff was excited about the Big Sky Conference win,
"What a match, both teams fought extremely hard. . .our team played smart and handled the big moments really well. We were poised and had great emotional control. . .we appreciate the support from the crowd today, it's exciting to win this tight match."
