PORTLAND, Ore. – UNC was looking to salvage the four-game series against Portland with a get away Sunday win. The Pilots pitching staff navigated the Bears order and kept them off the scoreboard in a 4-0 UP victory.
After some back-and-forth drama on Saturday, the finale was pretty cut and dry. Portland scored four runs in the fourth inning and that was that.
The Bears best scoring chance came in the seventh. Quinn Ayers and Adrian Vela reached with two outs, but a groundball by Hayden Heinze ended the inning.
Matt Burkart had two of the Bears six hits.
SCHEDULE SAYS
UNC will return to Colorado for a pair of games before they start WAC play. Tuesday they travel to Air Force for a single game, before returning home a week later to take on Colorado State – Pueblo.
