Haas Sets Program Record, @UNC_TrackField Competes at Don Kirby Invite

Stephen Haas recorded the fastest 3000m indoor time in program history
ALBEQUERQUE, N.M.- Northern Colorado Track and Field opened it competition at the Don Kirby Invite on Friday afternoon and the Bears were locked in during their final regular season competition before the Big Sky Indoor Championships in two weeks.
Stephen Haas set an indoor program record on Friday in the 3000m with a time of 8:36.40 minutes to place sixth in the event. Hass reclaimed the top spot in the UNC record book from teammate Josh Campbell, who broke the record earlier this year at the Potts Invitational with a run of 8:37.32 minutes. Campbell was 15th in the event on Friday with a time of 8:52.29 minutes.
Jeremy Romero nearly placed for UNC in the 3000m with a time of 8:39.72 minutes to finish ninth in the race
McKenna McGrath had a strong day in Albuquerque, placing in a tie for second in the women's high jump and clearing the bar at 1.67m.
Alex Ayers showed up in the 400m, winning his heat and recording the third fastest overall time with a 48.89 second time.
Antoine Coates recorded his personal-best in the 200m, finishing with a time of 21.75 seconds for the 13th fastest time in the finals and winning his heat. Coates previous high mark was 21.87 seconds.
Jalen Lyon also had a career-day, finishing with a time of 21.81 seconds in the 200m to top his previous record by 10 seconds. Lyon was 15th in the finals and won his heat. Alex Ayers set a personal best by :01 seconds with a 22.68 second time in
Allison Davis posted a personal-best in the long jump with a 5.48m performance on her third attempt. Davis was 28th in the finals of the long jump.
