Jordan Davis broke the UNC all-time scoring record against EWU.
Davis makes history, but EWU wins in OT

CHENEY, Wash. – Saturday was the day. Jordan Davis was just two points away from breaking the all-time Northern Colorado scoring record and less than four minutes into the game against Eastern Washington he stepped into his place in Bears history.
"It's a true honor," said Davis. "But, honestly I am now more focused on winning a championship and today's game forced me to become hungrier for what I haven't accomplished and that is winning a championship."
However, after Davis made history, it held to form. Since Jeff Linder took over the UNC program the Bears and Eagles have alternated wins and losses. Northern Colorado won the first matchup of the season and because EWU outscored UNC 13-3 in overtime Eastern Washington kept the streak going with an 88-78 win.
It's easy to look at the extra five minutes and say that's where the Bears had it slip away, but they actually had their best chance at the end of regulation.
Trailing by two with under 30 seconds to play Davis knifed through the Eagles defense as if they wanted him to score. Following a timeout, EWU was inbounding the ball when Jalen Sanders made a great play to get to it first and went to the floor to cover up the steal and the Bears got a TO of their own.
If you have followed the Bears this season you have seen Davis step into a three-point shot and beat the first half buzzer on three different occasions. UNC had the same play drawn up, but Eastern had seen the film and knew what was coming. Tyler Kidd, who threw the errant inbounds pass, got a hand on the ball as Davis was going up and knocked it out of his hands to send the game to an extra session.
HISTORY MADE
No matter the results of Saturday night's games UNC will still be in second place ahead of Weber State and Montana State. However, the Bears need a loss by Montana to set up a battle for first place on Feb. 25 in Missoula.
SCHEDULE SAYS
UNC is now off for nine days before they take on the aforementioned Griz. They will return home on Feb. 28 to take on the also aforementioned Wildcats. Tickets are available for that game against Weber State at tickets.UNCO.edu or by calling the UNC Box Office at 970-351-4849 Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
