Bears Dominate Griz in Quarterfinals

UNC volleyball advanced to the Big Sky semifinals with a 3-1 win over Montana
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – It was a dominant performance by the top-seeded UNC volleyball team in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament on Thursday night defeating Montana 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 25-10).
The Bears hit an outstanding .403 for the match with only nine attack errors over the four sets.
Big Sky MVP Daisy Schultz was consistent in delivering the ball all over the floor as four Bears finished the game with seven or more kills. Schultz had 49 assists on the night adding in four kills of her own and six digs.
Kailey Jo Ince was the team leader in kills with 18 and a .441 attack percentage. Fellow outside hitter Taylor Muff had 14 kills and hit .429. Up the middle, Lauren Hinrichs and Cece Huhn added in eight and seven kills each. Huhn hit .462 for the night and Hinrichs .316.
It was the service line that allowed Northern Colorado to separate themselves from Montana in the first set. The team went on a 6-0 run to go from up 9-8 to 15-8. Kyndall Feather had three straight aces during the run. As a team UNC hit .500 in the set.
The second set was the only set Northern Colorado's offense hit below .390 for the match as they fell in a back and forth battle 25-22.
In the third Northern Colorado's offense got back on track behind the arm of Ince and her nine kills. UNC hit .394 for the set and used a 9-1 run early to put distance between them and the Griz.
