Northern Colorado Included in AVCA Top 100

UNC is listed among the Top 100 teams by the American Volleyball Coaches Association
After winning the Big Sky regular season title, Northern Colorado volleyball earns a spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association(AVCA)'s Top 100 teams for 2019. The AVCA Top 100 teams are programs listed in the top 100 of three separate polls. The polls include the RichKern.com/AVCARKPI, Pablo and RPI rankings.
Northern Colorado is slated at No. 87 in each of the three rankings.
Last week, UNC won the regular season on Thursday with a sweep of Idaho on the road. The Bears also swept Eastern Washington this past Saturday to Cheney, Wash.
UNC has a 21-7 overall record this season with a 15-1 record in the Big Sky conference.
After the two wins, UNC is on an eight-match win streak, with the last loss coming against Northern Arizona in October. The Bears had their best conference start in program history, going 8-0 before the loss to NAU. UNC has defended home court, going 10-2 at Bank of Colorado Arena and 11-5 on the road.
UNC has faced four of the other teams that appear on the Top 100, including No. 11 Colorado State, Wyoming, Grand Canyon and Cal Poly. CSU and Cal Poly are both in the AVCA Top 50 team list.Â
Northern Colorado plays its final two regular season matches at home, starting with Portland State on Thursday at 7 p.m(MT). The match will be Senior Night for the Bears' Taylor Els, who will be honored pre-match.
UNC's final match will be against Sacramento State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
