UNC women's golf finished its fall season on Wednesday
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – For the second consecutive tournament Beah Cruz and Marisa Hisaki finished in the top 30, coming in tied for 23rd and 29th, respectively at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational. Cruz shot a 227 for the tournament, while Hisaki was two strokes behind her with a 229.
As a team, Northern Colorado finished in a tie for 11th with UT Arlington. The Bears finished five strokes away from being in the top 10.
Hisaki had the best round for the Bears with a 2-over, 74 on Wednesday. She led the team with a pair of birdies and played the back nine well with eight pars.
Cruz had the second-best day for Northern Colorado with a 77. Morgan Sahm and Aili Bundy shot their best rounds of the tournament with a 79.
Portie's Prospective
We finished off our fall with some good individual performances, but room to improve as a team. Beah Cruz and Marisa Hisaki continue to lead the way with a 23rd and 29th place finish. It was a pretty windy day again today and we had a stretch of holes where we struggled. Finding fairways off the tee and making our short putts were tough this week, so we will go into the off-season knowing the parts of our game that need some attention. I am confident in this group and know we have the ability to compete at a high level for the rest of our season.
What's Ahead
The New Mexico State Aggie Invitational marked the end of the fall season for Northern Colorado. They will be off until February when they compete in the Battle at the Rock hosted by UC Riverside.
