Bears Battled Hornets, Elements on Sunday

Northern Colorado dropped its home game to Sac St on Sunday
Northern Colorado battled through the wind against Sacramento State, but fell to the Hornets 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. UNC [6-10-3, 4-2-2] had limited opportunities to score and had difficulty possessing the ball in the first half.
Sac St. scored their goal in the 29th minute of the game, after Erica Sosa passed the ball into the box UNC attempted to clear the ball but Kylee Kim-Bustillos redirected the clear and slipped it past Ashley Franza.
UNC's first shot on goal came in the 40th minute as Haley O'Nan fired a strong shot, but was it saved.
The Bears improved their control in the second half, but Hornets were being more conservative with their offense.
Kalen Niedling and Lexi Pulley both put shots on goal in the second half but could not create any more opportunities.
UNC managed to hold the ball for 57% of the game, but it did not translate into goals for the Bears. The wind picked up in the second half and made an y shots in the air less accurate.
The early goal from Sac St. proved to be the difference in the game.

Northern Colorado will be off until next Sunday, when they host conference leading Montana at 1 pm(MT). The game will also be senior day as the Bears will honor their six seniors pregame.
