UNC football aims to go 2-0 in Big Sky play at Northern Arizona

Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona each experienced big second half comebacks last Saturday, for one it turned into a win, for the other a loss. The Bears outscored Idaho 20-7 in the second half as the defense clamped down and the offense found momentum to complete the comeback.Â
Meanwhile, Northern Arizona blew a 14-point halftime lead as Montana State scored 35 second half points including 28 in the fourth quarter.
Both teams feature a sixth-year quarterback in Jacob Knipp for Northern Colorado and Case Cookus for Northern Arizona. Knipp had his best performance of the season against Idaho completing 14 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Cookus is averaging 333.8 yards passing this season and has 13 touchdown passes.

32 -Â Ben Raybon made the game-winning 32-yard field goal with 4:06 left last week. It was his second make of the game in his first appearance as a Bear.Â
39 -Â Milo Hall ran the ball for a career-high 39 times against Idaho. Over the 39 rushes, he gained 135 yards for the Bears including the game-tying two-yard run in the fourth quarter.
46 -Â Northern Colorado's defense held Idaho to just 46 yards of offense in the fourth quarter. In comparison, the Vandals had 66 penalty yards in the fourth quarter alone.

• Northern Arizona jumped out to a 21-0 lead against Montana State, but the Bobcats used a 35 point second half to come back and defeat the Lumberjacks, 49-31.
• Quarterback Case Cookus leads the top passing offense in the Big Sky averaging 333.8 yards per game. NAU is putting up 371.6 yards a game through the air, the third-most in the FCS.Â
• Running back Joe Logan is averaging just 2.9 yards per rush, but shows his value in the pass game leading the team with five touchdowns and is one of five players on the roster with 200 or more yards on the season.Â
• While the Lumberjacks rack up the yards on offense, they have struggled to slow down opponents. In their first five games of the year, NAU opponents are averaging 460.8 yards a game and 39.6 points.
• Northern Arizona was picked to finish sixth in the Big Sky by both the media and coaches in the preseason.
