It was a great start to conference play for Northern Colorado. They had suffered some late-game hardships to close out the non-conference schedule but with the help of Jordan Davis turned that around in a hurry against Sacramento State. They dominated the final 20 minutes to come away with a sweep of the opening weekend beating Portland State on New Year's Eve.Â
Davis led the way as he has done all season, earning his second conference player of the week honors, but Bodie Hume burst on to the Big Sky scene with a pair of impressive performances. The freshman was the second-leading scorer in each game netting 19 and 18 points apiece.Â
As a team, the Bears got back to their shooting ways. Led by Hume, they made 10 three-pointers against the Hornets who came into the game allowing just five makes a game. Hume made that many himself. They kept it going against the Vikings, UNC knocked down 12 more triples in the holiday victory.
